2024/2025 NBA championship odd: Celtics leads, thunder and Knicks on the hunt

The NBA is back in action, and the Boston Celtics are looking to secure their 18th title after a dominant win over the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals.

However, repeating as champions won’t be easy, as both conferences are packed with serious contenders hungry to dethrone them.

Teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, and Denver Nuggets are determined to close the gap.

As of October 2024, the Boston Celtics are the betting favorites for the upcoming season.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, they lead the odds with +310, meaning a $10 bet would return $41.

Following closely behind are the Oklahoma City Thunder at +650, and the New York Knicks, who have bolstered their roster, sitting at +800.

The defending champions will need to stay sharp, as the Nuggets and several other teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks are all sitting at odds under +1000.

One of the Celtics’ main threats in the East, the New York Knicks, has made some notable moves during the offseason.

They’ve acquired Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets, re-signed OG Anunoby, and made a blockbuster trade for All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns in September.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers are building their own super-team, adding nine-time All-Star Paul George to their lineup alongside MVP Joel Embiid and rising star Tyrese Maxey.

The trio looks strong on paper, but injury concerns could potentially derail their campaign, as both George and Embiid have struggled to stay healthy in recent years.

In the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder have emerged as serious challengers.

Their odds improved significantly after signing center Isiah Hartenstein. Unfortunately, Hartenstein fractured his left hand during the preseason and is expected to miss several weeks.

Despite this setback, the Thunder remain one of the top contenders alongside the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves, who are also looking to make deep playoff runs this year.

With so many exciting teams and new faces in different franchises, the 2024-25 NBA season promises to be thrilling.

As the action unfolds, keep an eye on the odds as they continue to shift throughout the season.
