Rangers Want to Sign ‘Incredible’ Star for Clement in January
Rangers have received a boost in their pursuit of Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, with reports suggesting they are in “pole position” to sign him in the upcoming January transfer window.
Shankland has been a standout performer for Hearts in recent seasons, scoring 24 goals in 37 games during the previous two campaigns.
However, this season has been a difficult one for both Shankland and Hearts, with the striker finding the back of the net just once in 14 matches, coinciding with his club’s struggles in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite his current form, Shankland remains a highly sought-after player, with Rangers leading the race for his signature.
According to Football Insider, Shankland, whose contract expires at the end of the season, may be ready to leave Tynecastle, especially following his impressive performances over the past two years.
Rangers have long been linked with the striker, and with his contract nearing its end, they are well-positioned to make a move in January, potentially securing him before he becomes a free agent next summer.
This potential transfer represents a win-win situation for both clubs.
Rangers, who are in need of reinforcements after falling behind rivals Celtic in the Premiership standings, would benefit from adding Shankland’s goal-scoring abilities to their squad.
For Hearts, selling the striker in January would provide some much-needed funds and give them the opportunity to bring in a replacement.
While the deal could be finalized in January, there is also the possibility that the two clubs will reach an agreement for Shankland to join Rangers on a free transfer in the summer.
Shankland’s proven ability to score goals, having netted 57 goals in 138 Scottish Premiership appearances, would significantly strengthen Rangers’ attack.
The club currently ranks joint-sixth in the league for goals scored and will need to improve their offensive output if they are to close the gap on second-place Aberdeen and challenge for a better finish in the league. With the January transfer window approaching, Rangers will be hoping to finalize the deal for the striker, who could be the missing piece to their attacking puzzle.
