Texas lands transfer commitments from former Purdue DL, former Arkansas LB

Texas Strengthens Defense with Transfer Additions from Purdue and Arkansas

Texas has bolstered its defense through the transfer portal, securing commitments from two talented players: defensive lineman Cole Brevard from Purdue and linebacker Brad Spence from Arkansas.

These additions come just in time as the Longhorns look to enhance their defensive lineup ahead of the 2025 season.

Cole Brevard, a former three-star recruit, began his college journey at Penn State before transferring to Purdue.

After spending three seasons with the Boilermakers, Brevard accumulated 38 tackles and 9.0 tackles for loss.

Originally from the Indianapolis area, he made the decision to transfer closer to home, now bringing his experience and skills to Texas.

Brad Spence, also a three-star recruit, joined Arkansas in 2023 and immediately became a key contributor. As a true freshman, Spence appeared in all 12 games, recording 16 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, and even a pick-six.

His strong performance continued into his sophomore year, where he notched 54 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Spence’s versatility and playmaking ability will be a valuable addition to the Longhorns’ defense.

Both Brevard and Spence are expected to significantly improve the Texas defense for the 2025 season. With their experience in Power Five conferences, they bring a wealth of talent and leadership to a team poised for future success.

While the 2025 season is still on the horizon, Texas’ immediate focus is on the College Football Playoff, where they will face Clemson in the quarterfinals on December 21.

These transfer additions could play a pivotal role in Texas’ quest for a national title.
