Boy, 16, killed in crash on snowy central Minnesota road
A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident in central Minnesota on a snowy Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. on Highway 71 near 150th Street in Little Sauk Township, located in Todd County.
The teenager, from Browerville, was traveling north when his vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree.
At this time, the Minnesota State Patrol has not disclosed the identity of the victim. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The patrol reports that the road conditions were hazardous due to snow and ice, contributing to the tragic event.
The harsh weather caused by snowy roads led to multiple accidents across the Twin Cities early Monday morning, including more than a dozen crashes and spinouts.
Authorities predict that road conditions will improve later in the day as the weather clears.
Little Sauk Township, where the crash occurred, is about 20 miles east of Alexandria, Minnesota. Residents in the area have been warned about the dangers of driving in icy conditions,
particularly during the winter months, which often lead to dangerous situations on the road.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of caution while driving in inclement weather.
Minnesota drivers are urged to stay informed about road conditions and exercise care to prevent accidents during the winter season.
