Former Ohio State football player Donovan Munger has passed away

The Ohio State football community is mourning the loss of Donovan Munger, a former defensive lineman who was a part of the 2014 national championship team.

Munger, who played for the Buckeyes from 2013 to 2015, passed away at the young age of 30.

His death has come as a shock to many, and his family, friends, and former teammates are grieving his untimely passing.

Munger was a backup defensive tackle during his time with the Ohio State Buckeyes. While he didn’t see extensive playing time, he made contributions to the team

especially during the memorable 2014 season, when Ohio State claimed the first-ever College Football Playoff national title by defeating Oregon.

Though Munger only recorded five tackles that year, his presence on the team was valued, and his role in their success was significant.

A four-star recruit when he joined Ohio State, Munger’s potential was recognized early in his career. He played in a total of 23 games across two seasons, including 11 games in 2014 and 12 in 2015.

However, despite his promising start, Munger’s football career was cut short due to a medical condition that forced him to retire.

He had struggled with blood clots, a condition that also led to a redshirt during his freshman year.

The cause of Munger’s death remains unclear, as no specific details have been released. His passing follows a similar tragedy, with another former Ohio State player, Ben Christman, passing away just recently at the age of 21.

Both losses have left a void in the Buckeye community, and the grief surrounding their deaths is felt deeply by many who knew them.

In this difficult time, we extend our deepest condolences to Donovan Munger’s family and loved ones.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who admired his dedication to the game and his role in Ohio State’s historic championship victory.

As more information becomes available, we will continue to honor Munger’s life and legacy.
