Giants reportedly ‘lurking’ in guard market in free agency

As the NFL’s free agency period approaches, the New York Giants are gearing up for a critical offseason.

After a disappointing 3-14 finish in 2024, the Giants are looking to strengthen their roster to ensure a more successful 2025 campaign.

One of their most pressing concerns is improving the offensive line, with a particular focus on right guard, a position they hope to address with a significant move in free agency.

General Manager Joe Schoen has made it clear that bolstering the offensive line will be a top priority.

During his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine, Schoen confirmed that the Giants are actively seeking reinforcements in the trenches.

Reports indicate that the team is already making moves in the guard market, positioning themselves for a major acquisition.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Giants are one of several teams actively pursuing upgrades in the guard market, along with the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks.

Despite much of the focus being on the Giants’ quarterback search, their commitment to improving the offensive line cannot be overlooked.

A solid offensive line is crucial for the success of the quarterback, and with $48 million in salary cap space, the Giants have ample room to make significant moves and improve multiple positions through free agency.

Although the Kansas City Chiefs have already franchised their right guard, Trey Smith, leaving one of the top names off the board, there are still several high-quality guards available for the Giants to consider.

Key names include Will Fries of the Indianapolis Colts, Teven Jenkins of the Chicago Bears, Kevin Zeitler of the Detroit Lions, and Will Hernandez of the Arizona Cardinals.

The Giants will likely target one of these players to step in as an immediate starter and provide the stability they need along the offensive line for the upcoming season.

As the Giants prepare for the next phase of their roster overhaul, the free-agent market offers a chance to make meaningful improvements that could be pivotal for their 2025 success.

With a renewed focus on the offensive line, the team is positioning itself for a more competitive future.
