A 17-year-old girl has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Police say they responded to reports of a shooting just before 8 p.m. on the 7000 block of Lakeland Avenue North.
Upon arrival, officers found the teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency care was administered at the scene until paramedics transported her to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Zoey Kpanlin, a bright and spirited teen whose life was tragically cut short.
According to a GoFundMe page created in her memory, Zoey was described as a joyful young woman with immense talent. The page’s organizer, Siah Borbor, noted that Zoey died just 10 days before her 18th birthday—a heartbreaking detail that has deeply impacted her loved ones and community.
In response to the shooting, several law enforcement agencies quickly surrounded the area, working together to locate the suspect.
A State Patrol helicopter was also brought in to aid the search. Despite these efforts, no suspects were found at the scene, and no arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon.
The investigation remains active, and police are pursuing leads.
