Another All-Pro edge rusher could be a trade target for the Bills

The Buffalo Bills are making waves in the offseason trade market, with various star players being linked to potential moves.

Names like Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby have sparked discussions about how the Bills could upgrade their defense.

However, another impressive name has emerged as a potential target for Buffalo—Trey Hendrickson, the Cincinnati Bengals’ standout pass rusher.

Hendrickson, who had a career-best 17.5 sacks in 2024, recently spoke about his future with the Bengals during an interview with Pat McAfee.

He expressed his desire to stay in Cincinnati but acknowledged that his options may be limited to either re-signing with the Bengals or potentially being traded.

Hendrickson’s focus is clear—he wants to help his team win a Super Bowl, and if staying with the Bengals is part of that plan, he would be on board. But if a trade offers a better opportunity for both him and the team, he’s open to that as well.

Over the past few seasons, Hendrickson has proven himself to be one of the most formidable edge rushers in the NFL.

With 70.5 sacks since 2020, he ranks third behind T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett, showcasing his consistent ability to disrupt opposing offenses.

If the Bills were able to acquire Hendrickson, they’d be adding a game-changer to their defense—a player who could significantly elevate their pass rush.

In terms of performance, Hendrickson is coming off a remarkable 2024 season, earning an 88.1 overall grade from PFF, highlighted by a 90.4 pass rush grade.

This places him among the NFL’s elite edge rushers, ranking fifth in the league. The addition of someone like Hendrickson could give the Bills’ front seven a much-needed boost, strengthening their defense as they continue to chase a Super Bowl appearance.

However, there are hurdles to overcome. The Bills currently face salary cap challenges, and Hendrickson is likely seeking a new contract after his standout season.

To make this trade work, Buffalo’s general manager, Brandon Beane, would need to work some financial magic.

While it’s unclear if a deal can be struck, the possibility of adding a player of Hendrickson’s caliber is certainly intriguing and could have a significant impact on the team’s defensive line.

As the offseason progresses, the Bills will need to evaluate their options carefully. While the pursuit of a player like Hendrickson could elevate their defense, it’s clear that any potential move would require careful planning and negotiation.
