Ashe County arrest reports

The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office recently released its latest arrest report for the month of April 2025.

All individuals mentioned are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.

This summary highlights the various charges and legal actions taken over several days.

On April 14, two arrests were recorded. Joseph C. Bishop, 34, from West Jefferson, faced a charge for driving with a revoked license and was released the same day on a $450 secured bond.

Meanwhile, Joseph T. McCracken, 31, of Jefferson, was arrested for multiple offenses, including possession of methamphetamine and other controlled substances, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

His release came the following day under a $5,000 secured bond.

April 15 brought several more incidents. Jason D. Blevins, 43, of Hays, was arrested for failure to pay child support and released the same day after posting a $2,000 bond.

Oscar G. Cristobal, 29, of Morganton, was charged with driving while impaired and subsequently released. Joshua S. Hamm, 37, of West Jefferson, was booked on a parole violation and remains in custody.

Similarly, John N. Hobbs, 43, of Boone, faced charges for shoplifting and was released two days later. Other arrests included Joshua D. Pate, 48, and Cynthia M. Reyna, 36, both currently held on various warrants and bonds,

while Michelle W. Rodriguez, 34, was charged with breaking and entering and larceny, securing her release on a $15,000 bond.

The wave of arrests continued on April 16, with the case of Nicholas D. Coldiron, 21, from West Jefferson, standing out due to the number and severity of charges.

Coldiron faces multiple counts, including firearm possession by a felon, drug offenses, trespassing, and fleeing law enforcement.

He remains detained under a $56,500 bond. On April 17, Samuel A. Absher, 35, of Crumpler, was arrested for unpaid child support but was released the following day. James C. Caudill, 54, and Kari N. Greer, 30, faced drug-related charges and probation violations; Greer remains incarcerated with a $15,000 secured bond.

In the latter part of the week, the arrests continued. Orion C. Kilpatrick, 21, of Jefferson, was charged with impaired driving and released on a written promise to appear in court. Levi G. Doda-Freeman, 30, from Wisconsin, was detained for meth possession and remains in custody. Robert D. Murphy, 69, and Allan S. White, 62, were both arrested for impaired driving, with White currently still held. Lastly, on April 20, Chad J. Vargo, 52, of Charlotte, was booked on charges of breaking or entering and is being held under a $2,500 secured bond.

This report offers a snapshot of the legal proceedings unfolding in Ashe County during the second half of April 2025. The Sheriff’s Office continues its efforts to maintain public safety while ensuring that each accused individual is afforded the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise.
