Jerry Jones Remains Tight-Lipped on Mike McCarthy’s Future with Cowboys Following Win Over Buccaneers
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made headlines after his team’s thrilling 26-24 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a victory that was more about pride than playoff hopes.
Despite the positive performance, Jones refused to clarify whether head coach Mike McCarthy would be returning for the 2025 season, even when directly asked.
His response emphasized his pride in the team’s effort, but he refrained from discussing McCarthy’s contract situation.
After the game, Jones praised his team’s resilience, especially under McCarthy’s leadership. “Mike McCarthy, he just won’t let them not think they’re not playing for a Super Bowl out there,” Jones said, applauding the head coach for maintaining high expectations.
However, when it came to McCarthy’s future, Jones remained evasive. “All I can say is what a good job, how good a job he’s doing,” Jones noted.
He made it clear that he wasn’t ready to share any information about the coaching staff’s plans after the season.
The Cowboys’ postseason hopes were dashed earlier in the day when the Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, eliminating Dallas from playoff contention.
However, the Cowboys rallied to secure a win over the Buccaneers, improving their record to 7-8.
