Florida adds transfer commitment from veteran DB out of Southern Mississippi

The Florida Gators are gearing up for a strong 2025 season under head coach Billy Napier,

and they’ve added an important piece to their defense.

On Friday, Florida secured a commitment from veteran defensive back Micheal Caraway Jr.

who is transferring from Southern Mississippi. Caraway,

who spent two years at the JUCO level before joining the Golden Eagles, brings with him a wealth of experience.

Over the past three seasons at Southern Miss, Caraway has become a key player on the defensive side, making 34 appearances.

In 2024, he recorded a career-high 37 tackles, showcasing his growth and development as a defender.

In total, Caraway has accumulated 70 tackles, 7 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery throughout his career with the Golden Eagles.

Caraway’s addition to the Gators’ defense strengthens their secondary,

providing valuable depth and experience for a team looking to make a breakthrough in 2025.

His ability to impact games both as a tackler and a disruptor in the passing game could play a significant role in Florida’s defensive schemes moving forward.
