Football Canada Welcomes Three New Members to Its Board of Governors

Football Canada has expanded its leadership team with the addition of three new board members:

Tyler Mazereeuw, Phil Zigby, and Barry Taitinger. Their election marks an important step in the organization’s ongoing efforts to grow and enhance the sport across the country.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tyler, Phil, and Barry to Football Canada’s board of governors,” said board chair Peter Baxter.

“Their diverse expertise, passion for the game, and commitment to excellence will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve football in Canada.”

Mazereeuw brings extensive experience in revenue generation and innovation, having held senior positions with the Canadian Football League (CFL), IMG, and Molson.

He also served as chairman of the Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada and was most recently the CFL’s chief commercial officer.

His expertise in business strategy and brand partnerships will be an asset to Football Canada as it looks to expand its reach and influence.

Zigby has a strong background in sports governance, having previously served as Football Ontario’s president, treasurer, and director of governance.

Currently, he works as a client services and performance specialist contract manager for the City of Guelph, overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets.

His financial acumen and leadership experience will contribute to Football Canada’s strategic planning and organizational development.

Taitinger, a seasoned financial executive, currently serves as a managing director of corporate finance at BMO.

With a history as a University of Alberta football player and a coach at various levels, including high school and community football, he brings both financial expertise and firsthand knowledge of player development.

Most recently, he was a guest coach for Team Alberta at the 2024 U18 selection camp in Calgary. The three new members join a board that also includes Arash Madani, Dale Williams, Tara Mrakic, and Jo-Anne Polak, further strengthening the organization’s leadership as it works to shape the future of football in Canada.
