Former Celtics big man Glen “big baby” Davis shares final message before service prison sentence
Former Boston Celtics player Glen “Big Baby” Davis remained in high spirits as he prepared to begin his 40-month prison sentence.
Davis, along with several other former NBA players, was convicted in a high-profile case involving the defrauding of the NBA’s health care system.
Despite multiple attempts by his legal team to overturn the federal court’s decision, Davis is set to serve his sentence at Federal Prison Camp in Duluth, Minnesota.
On Tuesday, the former NBA champion took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message to his supporters.
In the brief video, Davis expressed his gratitude and optimism as he prepared to face his legal consequences, stating, “Love y’all.
Love y’all. I’ll be good.” This post marked his public farewell before heading to prison.
Earlier this year, Davis attracted attention for his dramatic reaction when the court delivered his prison sentence.
However, in a statement made in July, the 2008 NBA champion shared that he plans to stay productive while serving time, with a major goal set for his time in prison.
Davis, originally drated by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 2007 NBA draft, was traded to the Celtics on draft day.
The deal also brought Ray Allen to Boston, creating one of the league’s most formidable rosters.
Over the course of his eight-year NBA career, Davis played for the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Clippers, recording averages of 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
As he begins his sentence, Davis’s fans and the basketball community reflect on his time in the NBA and his eventual downfall, while the former athlete hopes for a new beginning after paying his debt
to society.
