Georgia football receives bad news from No. 1 ranked RB
Georgia Football Faces Setback with 5-Star RB’s Change of Plans
Georgia football is gearing up for its final home game of the season today against Georgia Tech, and with the game comes the opportunity to host potential recruits.
This is a pivotal moment for Coach Kirby Smart as he seeks to bring top talent to Athens.
However, amidst the excitement, Georgia football received some disappointing news:
one of the nation’s top recruits, five-star running back Savion Hiter, will no longer be visiting the Bulldogs for this game.
Savion Hiter is regarded as one of the best prospects in the 2026 class.
Ranked as the 14th overall player in the country by 247Sports, Hiter also holds the distinction of being the top running back in his class and the No. 1 player in his home state of Virginia.
Initially, he had planned to visit Georgia during the game against Georgia Tech. Unfortunately, it has now been confirmed by Jeff Sentell from DawgNation that this visit will not take place as planned.
While this news is not ideal for Georgia, it is far from catastrophic. The absence of Hiter from this visit doesn’t necessarily indicate that he is favoring another program.
In fact, he has not committed to visiting any other school in place of Georgia, which means his interest in the Bulldogs remains strong.
Furthermore, Hiter had the chance to visit Athens just the previous weekend when Georgia faced off against UMass, and he spoke highly of the experience, expressing his enjoyment during the trip.
It’s also worth noting that Hiter is still in the 2026 recruiting cycle, which means there is plenty of time for him to make further visits and ultimately make his decision.
Though he won’t be attending the Georgia Tech game, Hiter’s affection for Georgia seems clear, and there is a strong likelihood he will return to campus for future visits. This is an important development, as Hiter could be a major addition to the Bulldogs’ 2026 class.
In the grand scheme of things, while it’s disappointing that Hiter won’t be attending this particular game, his recruitment is far from over. Georgia fans can remain optimistic, as there are plenty of opportunities ahead for Coach Smart and his staff to continue building a strong relationship with one of the top talents in the 2026 class.
