How much will Titans starters play in the preseason finale vs New Orleans Saints?

This Sunday, the Tennessee Titans (2-0) will host the New Orleans Saints (1-1) in their preseason finale. After a positive start to Brian Callahan’s first season as Tennessee’s head coach, the team will look to build on its success in exhibitions.

Brayden Narveson, a rookie kicker for the Titans who was not selected in any drafts, kicked the game-winning field goal with 46 yards left in regulation last week, helping the Titans defeat the visiting Seattle Seahawks 16-15.

There were no Titans starters against Seattle. In the Tennessee victory over the Seahawks, Callahan benched 38 players. Some players missed the game because of injuries, but rookies JC Latham and T’Vondre Sweat, who could have been a “starter” in Week 1, did not wear uniforms. Callahan and his staff decided that getting “three-ish” series this weekend in New Orleans was the best way for the team to prepare for their road season opener against the Chicago Bears.

“My intention as of today is to play,” Callahan stated on Sunday. “Again, that could change as the week unfolds with the injuries and who is available and all of that stuff,” he added. “In a preseason game, play the starters and take a lot of snaps.

I’d like to see our starting offense play somewhere in the three- to four-series (realm) range, whichever that is. We have a number of players who won’t play defense anyway. Obviously, Chido (Awuzie), L’Jarius (Sneed), Jeffery (Simmons), and Harold (Landry III) will not play, but I would like to see some of those players who did not play last night play a little bit this week.”

Will Levis requires real reps. In the Titans’ first preseason victory over the San Francisco 49ers, quarterback Will Levis led two drives that resulted in touchdowns.

The second-year passer finished four of his five endeavors for 35 yards. In response to San Francisco’s opening score, Levis added two more rushes for three more yards, including a quarterback sneak touchdown on their first drive.

Before their preseason game, Tennessee hosted Seattle for joint training camp practices, which Levis and the offense found to be challenging. Callahan stated, “I would like our starters to play.” “I believe we must.

I’d like to see a little more football because then we won’t play for close to two weeks before the first game, so they won’t see live football again, which I think we need to play.

On August 25, the Titans will play the Saints at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Titans Radio’s pregame coverage on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville begins at 9 a.m. CT.
