JUST IN: In Response To Trump Initiative,

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has been elected as the new chair of the Republican Governors Association (RGA)

, strengthening her national political presence just days after securing a second term as governor.

Her leadership role in the RGA places her at the forefront of fundraising efforts for Republican gubernatorial candidates in 2023,

a critical year with key elections in Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi—states where Republicans hope to make gains.

Reynolds previously served as the vice-chair of the RGA in 2022, and this promotion marks another step in her rising political influence.

Her national exposure has steadily grown, particularly after delivering the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address earlier in the year.

As RGA chair, she will play a crucial role in shaping the party’s strategies for upcoming gubernatorial races while expanding her political network.

Historically, the RGA leadership has been a springboard for prominent Republicans. Figures like Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, and Chris Christie have used the position to build political capital, grow donor support, and set the stage for potential presidential bids.

However, Reynolds has not signaled any intention to run for president at this time. Instead, her focus remains on her governorship and supporting Republican candidates nationwide.

Reynolds’ election took place during an RGA meeting in Florida, just a day after former President Donald Trump announced his bid for re-election.

While the event featured discussions about Trump’s campaign, there were mixed reactions regarding his chances of securing the nomination.

Despite any uncertainties within the party, Reynolds has maintained her support for Trump, even appearing at a rally with him in Sioux City, Iowa, earlier this month.

The 2022 midterm elections saw a competitive landscape for governorships, with Republicans and Democrats both securing key victories.

While Democrats flipped gubernatorial seats in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Arizona, Republicans celebrated wins in states like Nevada, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio.

As chair of the RGA, Reynolds will be instrumental in shaping Republican strategies moving forward, with her leadership playing a pivotal role in the party’s efforts to gain momentum in the next election cycle.
