Kirby Smart Discusses Potential Return Dates for Georgia’s Key Running Backs
Georgia football has faced challenges in recent weeks with a depleted running back room,
yet managed to secure a 59-21 victory over UMass, thanks in part to freshman Nate Frazier’s standout performances.
However, as Georgia pushes toward its postseason goals, head coach Kirby Smart addressed the potential return of two key running backs: Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson.
Smart provided an update following Saturday’s win, stating that Branson Robinson has been progressing well in his recovery, even participating in individual drills and some cutting last week.
In contrast, Roderick Robinson is still under the care of the training staff, though both players are inching closer to being game-ready.
Smart emphasized the importance of staying hopeful for their return, although a specific timeline is yet to be determined.
Given the current state of the running back room, it is unlikely that either player will be available for Georgia’s upcoming matchup against Georgia Tech.
However, there is still a possibility that both could return during the postseason, especially if Frazier remains healthy and continues his strong play.
Additionally, Trevor Etienne’s potential return could bolster Georgia’s running back corps even further.
Georgia’s running back group would undoubtedly be at its best with the full complement of players back and healthy, and it would be a major boost if all of them were ready for the playoffs.
As the season progresses, the return of Robinson and Robinson could be crucial for Georgia’s championship aspirations.
