Police Make 3rd Arrest in Shooting Involving Former Broncos Player: Report
In recent developments, Denver police have made a third arrest in connection to a shooting incident involving former Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds.
This follows his involvement in a violent altercation that occurred after a “Thursday Night Football” game in Week 7, which left Reynolds and others injured.
According to a report by Mike Klis from 9News, the latest arrest occurred on December 16, 2024. Daniel Olivarez, 30,
was taken into custody on serious charges, including attempted murder, assault, and illegal firearm possession, among others.
His bond has been set at $300,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 24. Olivarez now joins two other suspects, Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42,
who are also linked to the shooting incident, which followed Reynolds’ group leaving a strip club.
On the morning of October 18, Reynolds, driving his Ford Bronco, was shot at by individuals in another vehicle on Interstate 25 near Colorado Boulevard.
Despite attempts to escape, the attackers pursued him for several minutes, continuing to fire shots. Although details about Reynolds’ injuries remain limited, earlier reports suggested he suffered wounds to his arm and head.
Both Mendoza and Olivarez remain behind bars with identical bond amounts, while Charlesworth posted bail and was released.
Reynolds, who had joined the Broncos during the offseason, was released by the team in November after struggling with a finger injury.
Despite this setback, Reynolds was later picked up by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who offered him a fresh start. Reflecting on the ordeal, Reynolds expressed his gratitude for the support he received from the Broncos organization, which helped him navigate through this traumatic time.
“It was tough for a few weeks, but I had a good support system,” Reynolds shared in December, highlighting the help he received from his team and coaching staff.
Now with the Jaguars, Reynolds is focused on moving forward. In his debut game with Jacksonville during Week 16, he was targeted once but did not catch the pass.
Reynolds, who will turn 30 in February, has contributed 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown this season.
He still has a year remaining on his contract with the Jaguars after signing a two-year deal worth $9 million with the Broncos.
Through all the challenges he’s faced, Reynolds remains positive and determined to overcome the hurdles that life has thrown his way, eager to continue his football career in a new chapter with Jacksonville.
