Projected landing spot for Tyreek Hill is painfully obvious for Dolphins fans

The Miami Dolphins’ season came to a disappointing close, with the team failing to secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2021. Tyreek Hill, the standout receiver for Miami, didn’t take the setback well.

After the Dolphins’ loss to the New York Jets in Week 18, Hill expressed frustration, stating he was “out,” and while he enjoyed his time with the Dolphins, he felt it was time to move on.

Head coach Mike McDaniel was later questioned about Hill’s absence during the fourth quarter of that loss. McDaniel explained that he was informed Hill was “unavailable,” leading many to speculate whether Hill quit on the team when it became clear that the Kansas City Chiefs’ backups weren’t going to challenge the Denver Broncos, effectively ending Miami’s playoff hopes.

Hill seemed to play into these rumors by sharing a photo of himself superimposed onto Antonio Brown’s infamous moment when he quit on the Buccaneers, further fueling the perception that Hill was checked out.

Nick Wright, a commentator on FS1’s First Things First, recently weighed in on Hill’s future. He speculated that the Dolphins would trade Hill in the offseason, which many see as a real possibility. Wright suggested that Hill could be traded for a second- or third-round pick, likely to an NFC team like the Cowboys or Commanders. He went further, predicting that after one season, Hill would be released by his new team and eventually rejoin the Chiefs, where he spent six successful years before joining Miami.

Hill’s time with the Dolphins has been marked by ups and downs. Despite his impressive first two seasons, where he helped Miami reach the playoffs, Hill’s performance in 2024 was hindered by injuries, including a six-game absence from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Although his numbers weren’t as strong this season, the controversy surrounding his behavior in the final game could damage his marketability as a free agent.

While the Dolphins’ future with Hill remains uncertain, it seems increasingly likely that Tyreek Hill’s journey with Miami will end in 2025.

How this all unfolds will depend on whether Hill can repair his image in the offseason and whether another team sees enough value in him to give him another chance. But as of now, it’s hard to ignore the possibility that Hill’s next chapter may be away from the Dolphins.
