Shocking news as NY jets suffer season ending loss of star player
The New York Jets returned to practice this week after their bye, preparing for their Week 13 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.
However, the team may be facing a potential setback with star running back Breece Hall, who is currently dealing with a knee injury.
Hall was notably absent from Wednesday’s practice, fueling concerns about his availability for Sunday’s game.
The injury reportedly occurred during the Jets’ Week 11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and despite having nearly two weeks to recover, Hall was not ready to return to the field.
Head coach Jeff Ulbrich expressed cautious optimism, but it remains uncertain whether Hall will be able to play in Week 13.
Hall’s knee injury appears to have occurred late in the Colts game, though he chose to stay in and continue playing despite the discomfort.
Unfortunately, after the game, the soreness persisted, and the running back has struggled to fully recover.
Given the lack of significant improvement over the past ten days, the Jets’ coaching staff is understandably concerned about his status for the upcoming game against the Seahawks.
While Hall’s absence would be a blow to the team’s offense, there is still hope he can make a recovery in time for Sunday.
Although Hall’s numbers have seen a dip compared to his spectacular performance in 2023, he remains a key player for the Jets.
Last season, he finished fourth in the NFL for total scrimmage yards, but this year, he is averaging just 4.2 yards per carry and is projected to finish with 978 rushing yards and 621 receiving yards.
While these are still solid stats, they fall short of the 4.8 yards per carry he averaged last season. Despite this slight decline, Hall has regained some form in recent weeks, compiling 170 rushing yards, 120 receiving yards, and a touchdown over the past three games.
Despite a quieter season, Hall remains the focal point of the Jets’ offense. He has touched the ball more than any other non-quarterback on the team, with over 120 more touches than the next closest player. If Hall is unable to play on Sunday, rookie Braelon Allen would likely step up in his place. However, Allen has struggled recently, averaging only 2.8 yards per carry since Week 5. The Jets could also look to other rookies, such as Isaiah Davis or Israel Abanikanda, although Abanikanda has yet to appear in a game this season.
The Jets will continue to monitor Hall’s condition closely in the coming days, but for now, there is legitimate concern about his readiness for the Week 13 matchup. With Hall’s health uncertain, the team may need to rely on other players to step up and contribute significantly to the offense.
