SHOCKING NEWS: New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, GM Joe Schoen on hot seat. Owner John Mara sounds off on their future

New York Giants fans may not be thrilled with the latest update, but team owner John Mara has made it clear—there might be a leadership changes for the foreseeable future.

With the Giants currently sitting at 2-5 and occupying last place in the NFC East, Mara reaffirmed his commitment to head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen for the 2025 season.

Speaking during the premiere of “The Duke: The Giant Life of Wellington Mara,” Mara emphasized his belief in the duo, noting that his past impatience with the team’s development might have contributed to prior setbacks.

Despite the team’s underwhelming performance, Mara remains confident in the leadership of Daboll and Schoen.

However, he sidestepped questions regarding the future of quarterback Daniel Jones, who has struggled once again this season.

Averaging only 208 passing yards per game, with six touchdowns, four interceptions, and 21 sacks, Jones is facing mounting pressure.

His struggles come after a season-ending ACL injury in 2023 and an inconsistent start to this year’s campaign.

The struggles under Daboll and Schoen are a sharp contrast to the optimism of their first year in charge.

Hired ahead of the 2022 season, they guided the Giants to a 9-6-1 record and a playoff berth, marking the team’s first postseason appearance since 2016.

Daniel Jones also showed significant improvement that season, throwing for over 3,200 yards and rushing for more than 700.

However, a costly four-year, $160 million contract extension for Jones has not yielded the expected results, with the Giants’ performance declining ever since.

Injuries and inconsistent play plagued Jones in 2023, with the team finishing the season 6-11.

Though the Giants hoped to rebound this year, they currently find themselves struggling once again, with a 2-5 record and a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Notably, former star running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ victory, was allowed to test free agency by GM Schoen, a move that haunted Mara, as he once feared Barkley landing with a division rival.

Despite these challenges, Mara remains firm in his decision to move forward with Daboll and Schoen into next season.

Under their leadership, the Giants have posted a 17-23-1 record, but the ownership seems to believe that the foundation is in place for future success.

As the Giants prepare for their next matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where they are heavy underdogs, the team will need to dig deep to find answers and turn theirs season around.
