Slipknot Parts Ways with longtime member Due to….

In a significant development for the heavy metal scene, Slipknot has announced the departure of drummer Jay Weinberg, marking another shakeup within the band.

The news came over the weekend via a statement posted on their official website,

where the band expressed their appreciation for Weinberg’s decade-long contribution and his dedication to honoring the legacy of late drummer Joey Jordison.

In their statement, Slipknot emphasized their desire to evolve creatively, stating, “The band has chosen to split ways with Jay in order to pursue other creative endeavors.”

This announcement follows a challenging year for Slipknot, as they navigate changes in their lineup.

Weinberg’s exit drew immediate reactions from fans, particularly on social media. Many were taken aback by the decision, with some questioning the band’s direction. One Instagram user lamented,

“Can’t believe you guys just dropped Jay… he was the one who gave the old Slipknot flavor to the band again.” Another fan called for “Justice for Jay,” highlighting the support Weinberg had within the community.

Interestingly, the band appeared to remove the original post announcing Weinberg’s departure from their Instagram, leading to further criticism from fans who felt it was an attempt to silence dissent.

As of now, neither Slipknot nor Weinberg’s representatives have provided additional comments on this decision.

Weinberg’s departure follows the earlier resignation of sampler and keyboardist Craig “133” Jones, who had been a member of the band since 1996.

Weinberg joined Slipknot in 2014, stepping in as the drummer after Jordison’s exit in 2013. Before his time with Slipknot, he had performed with bands like Madball and Against Me! and is the son of renowned drummer Max Weinberg from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band.

During his time with Slipknot, Weinberg contributed to several albums, including “.5: The Grey Chapter” and “The End, So Far.” His talent was recognized when he was named “Metal Drummer of the Year” in the Modern Drummer Readers Poll. In a heartfelt Instagram post earlier this month, Weinberg reflected on the impact of his work with the band, expressing gratitude for the connections made with fans through their music.

Just days before the announcement, Weinberg had shared a nostalgic post about his performance in Mexico at the Hell & Heaven rock festival, capturing the essence of his experiences over the past year. He remarked on Instagram, “What a year 2023 has been. A wonderful way to end an incredible year filled with unforgettable shows.”

As Slipknot moves forward without Weinberg, fans are left wondering what this means for the band’s future. The heavy metal group has faced numerous changes over the years, yet they have consistently managed to reinvent themselves and their sound. Whether this latest departure will lead to new beginnings or challenges remains to be seen, but the loyal fanbase will undoubtedly be watching closely as the band navigates this transition.
