Something Is Fishy’: Florida Football Insider Worried Over QB DJ Lagway Ominous Shoulder Injury

Questions Surround Florida QB DJ Lagway’s Shoulder Injury Ahead of 2025 Season

Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway is widely regarded as a rising star, but recent concerns about his health have raised eyebrows among insiders.

The highly touted dual-threat quarterback, who was the only player in the 2024 recruiting class to earn a perfect 100 rating from 247 Sports, stepped into the starting role last season following an injury to Graham Mertz.

Despite battling a nagging hamstring injury in November, Lagway managed to lead the Gators through the remainder of the season, including a bowl game victory over Tulane.

However, reports of a new shoulder injury have sparked speculation about what’s really going on in Gainesville.

Lagway’s shoulder issue came as a surprise to many, especially since he played the entire Gasparilla Bowl without any apparent limitations.

The Gators recently announced that the young quarterback would be limited in offseason throwing activities, prompting Florida football insider Mark Young to question the legitimacy of the injury.

Young, speaking on 1010XL / 92.5 FM, suggested that something “fishy” might be happening with Lagway’s situation, as there was no prior indication of shoulder trouble during the season.

Adding to the intrigue, Florida head coach Billy Napier has downplayed the severity of Lagway’s condition.

When pressed by reporters, Napier confirmed that the quarterback has not undergone surgery and that the team has consulted medical experts at UF Health.

While he acknowledged that they sought multiple opinions, he did not provide clarity on when or how the injury occurred.

Given that Lagway completed 22 of 35 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown in the bowl game—with no mention of any upper-body discomfort—many are left wondering why this issue has surfaced now.

The uncertainty surrounding Lagway’s injury has fueled speculation about Florida’s plans for the 2025 season.

Some believe the Gators may be strategically limiting their young quarterback in the offseason to manage expectations, while others fear that the injury could be more serious than the program is letting on.

Either way, the lack of transparency has only deepened the mystery, leaving fans eager for more details as the team prepares for the upcoming season.

For now, Florida fans can only wait and watch as Lagway’s situation unfolds.

Whether his shoulder injury is minor or a cause for concern remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—the Gators’ success in 2025 hinges heavily on their talented quarterback’s health and availability.
