Steelers Bring in Former Cardinals WR

In recent developments, the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Andy Isabella, who is currently undergoing a workout with the team.

This information was confirmed by Joe Rutter, a source closely following the Steelers.

Andy Isabella entered the NFL as a second-round draft pick in 2019, selected by the Cardinals under the management of Steve Keim.

Known for his impressive speed, Isabella was expected to make a significant impact in Arizona. However, throughout his time with the Cardinals, he struggled to maintain consistent production, recording only 31 receptions in 36 games.

The Cardinals released Isabella in October 2022, after which he joined the practice squads of the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills.

His opportunities to play were limited, as he participated in just four games over the past two seasons. Recently, he also had a workout with the Atlanta Falcons, seeking to find a stable position in the league.

The Steelers are considering Isabella as a potential addition to their roster, particularly in light of an ankle injury suffered by receiver Cordarrelle Patterson during Week 4.

If Patterson is unable to play, Isabella could serve as a valuable asset, particularly on special teams, which could bolster the Steelers’ depth at the wide receiver position.

Currently, the Steelers have five wide receivers on their active roster: George Pickens, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, Scotty Miller, and Roman Wilson.

The team recently faced a setback, losing their first game of the 2024 season but still maintains a 3-1 record overall.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are struggling with a record of 1-3, facing tough upcoming matchups against the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.

The performance of both teams will be closely monitored as they navigate the next weeks of the season.

Donnie Druin, who covers the Cardinals, has been reporting on this situation, highlighting Isabella’s potential fit with the Steelers.

Having moved to Arizona in 2012, Druin has extensive experience in sports journalism, previously covering both the Steelers and Arizona State Sun Devils.

As Isabella seeks to establish himself once again in the NFL, the outcome of his workout with the Steelers could be a pivotal moment in his career.

Football fans will be eager to see if he secures a spot on the roster and how he might contribute to Pittsburgh’s season

moving forward.
