Steelers’ Mike Tomlin provides injury updates on Joey Porter Jr., Jaylen Warren more.

Ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ crucial regular-season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media, offering some positive news regarding the team’s injury situation.

Following the Steelers’ tough 29-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Tomlin’s updates brought some relief to fans concerned about the health of key players.

Overall, Tomlin indicated that the team is moving in the right direction as they prepare for the AFC North clash.

One of the most significant updates was on cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who has been battling a knee injury sustained during the Week 16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Due to the injury, Porter Jr. was sidelined for the game against Kansas City. However, Tomlin expressed confidence that the young cornerback is “scheduled to make it back” and should be ready for the Bengals game.

Given the Steelers’ recent struggles in the secondary, Porter’s return is a welcome boost as they push for a playoff spot.

In addition to Porter Jr., Tomlin mentioned that wide receiver Ben Skowronek and quarterback Justin Fields are both expected to play in the season finale.

While cornerback Cory Trice and running back Jaylen Warren will be limited in practice due to some minor bumps and bruises, Tomlin assured that they should be good to go for the game.

This news comes as a relief, as the Steelers will need all hands on deck for a must-win matchup against the Bengals.

Another key player, defensive lineman Cam Heyward, had raised some concerns after suffering an injury during the Chiefs game.

On a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce, Heyward appeared to hurt his right leg, prompting trainers to attend to him on the field.

Despite walking gingerly, Heyward returned to the game, and it appears he will be fully available for the Bengals matchup.

With the Steelers’ playoff hopes still alive, the outcome of the game against the Bengals will partly depend on the result of the Baltimore Ravens’ game against the Cleveland Browns.

If the Ravens clinch the AFC North title, the Steelers’ playoff position will be solidified, likely locking them into the fourth or fifth seed in the AFC.

This could lead to decisions about resting certain players, although Tomlin noted that he does not anticipate resting anyone in Week 18, regardless of the Ravens’ outcome.

As the Steelers prepare for a key Week 18 game, the injury updates are encouraging, and the team looks ready to fight for a spot in the playoffs.

With a mix of returning players and continued effort from those managing injuries, the Steelers are focused on finishing the season strong and making a push for the postseason.
