UCF Announces Good News in College Football Transfer Portal for Scott Frost

Over the weekend, the UCF Knights made headlines not only for their basketball team but also for their football program. The men’s basketball team suffered a tough 69-68 loss to the No. 10 Houston Cougars, but the football squad had reason to celebrate. UCF’s new head coach, Scott Frost, made a notable appearance at the Space Game, dressed in Canaveral blue.

He was seen supporting the team from the student section, adding to the excitement surrounding the program’s future. This came on the heels of good news in the college football transfer portal, as UCF announced the signing of Duane Thomas Jr., a former wide receiver from Charlotte.

Thomas, who hails from South Florida, had made his intentions clear in December by entering the transfer portal. A former track star in high school, Thomas brings a boost in speed, which aligns with Frost’s vision for the Knights’ offense. While Thomas had a limited role during his two seasons at Charlotte, recording 30 receptions for 307 yards and one touchdown, his potential to thrive in a new system has generated excitement. He is a former three-star recruit, and his addition strengthens the Knights’ wide receiver corps.

Frost has been actively bolstering UCF’s receiving group, with several notable transfers joining the program. Among the new faces are DayDay Farmer, a former wideout from West Virginia, and Marcus Burke, an ex-Florida Gators playmaker. These additions have created a competitive atmosphere in the program, with expectations high for the upcoming season. One of the major storylines will be the quarterback competition, with former Indiana Hoosiers signal-caller Tayven Jackson expected to compete with Dylan Rizk and others for the starting role.

As UCF prepares for the 2025 season, excitement is building. The Knights will kick off their campaign with a game against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on August 28. The combination of new transfers and a fresh coaching approach under Frost has given fans plenty to look forward to, and all eyes will be on the team as they aim to make a splash in the upcoming season.

With Frost at the helm and these key additions, UCF football is entering an exciting new era. The team’s depth and potential are growing, making the Knights a team to watch in college football. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will shape the team’s performance in the season ahead.
