Upcoming Mets free agents: 1 to re-sign, 1 to bring back at a reasonable price, and 1 to drive away.

The class of free agents for the New York Mets is huge. This year’s club added rentals at the deadline, in contrast to last year, when the majority of players with expiring contracts had already been traded.

Jesse Winker and Ryne Stanek are two players who are still trying to win our hearts. Others that we’ve seen for the entire season are easier to choose.

Who among the Mets’ upcoming free agents should be re-signed, who should be brought back at the right price, and who should be driven far away?

Jose Iglesias should be re-signed by the Mets.

Jose Iglesias, who brought the party this year, is the Mets’ most rational free agent. This year, he appears to be having as much fun as anyone else. Even though his performance has been electric, he doesn’t quite deserve a starting gig anywhere else.

Iglesias is an excellent candidate to return to the roster next season on a modest one-year contract worth approximately $4 million. Iglesias being the bat off the bench and frequently in the lineup to help ignite some offense.

Additionally, how bizarre will it be to witness other teams’ OMG celebrations? Iglesias isn’t the only Mets free agent that the team should think about keeping.

Although he doesn’t start as much as he might like, center fielder Harrison Bader has performed admirably in his position. The issue here is that Bader is likely to sign a long-term contract.

He will receive a $30 million contract for three years. Some of this year’s roster members will undoubtedly be re-signed by the Mets. They can’t pass on Iglesias at the price he’ll demand, the position he’ll accept, or the culture he’ll create.

But hey, we won’t hold it against him if he gets a better deal somewhere else. Fun has been had here.
