Warriors to sign former Knicks lottery pick after All-Star break

The Golden State Warriors are set to add another player to their roster after the All-Star break, with Kevin Knox II being the latest addition.

Sources close to the team have confirmed that Knox will be signing a 10-day contract with the Warriors to fill one of their vacant roster spots, according to ClutchPoints.

This follows his time spent playing with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League, where he has impressed with his recent performances.

Knox, 25, initially signed a Summer League contract with the Warriors and has since made a name for himself in the G League.

Throughout 28 games, the 6’7″ forward has averaged 21.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, with an impressive shooting efficiency of 49.9% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc.

His development over the past year has shown significant growth, making him an intriguing option for Golden State as they look to bolster their roster with another capable wing player.

Originally drafted by the New York Knicks as the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Knox has had a career filled with transitions.

After three years with the Knicks, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in 2022, along with a first-round pick, for Cam Reddish. Since then, Knox has had stints with both the Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers.

Last season, he played 31 games for Detroit, averaging 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 46.2% from the field.

Knox’s addition to the Warriors will bring more length and versatility to their roster, as he could become a valuable surprise scorer for the team.

Golden State’s front office has clearly recognized his potential, and his strong showing in the G League has earned him another opportunity in the NBA.

With his blend of size, shooting ability, and scoring instincts, Knox will look to make an impact with the Warriors in the second half of the season.
