High school girls commitments: MOC-FV’s Jeltema lands on Dordt, East’s Erick officially signs with SDSU

High School Athletes Make Their College Commitments Official

Choosing a college is never an easy decision, and for Ady Jeltema, it was no different.

The MOC-Floyd Valley basketball standout carefully weighed her options before ultimately deciding to continue her athletic career at Dordt University.

The reigning NAIA national champions won her over with their strong basketball program and the welcoming environment created by Coach Bill Harmsen and his staff.

“I love basketball and want to play for four more years,” Jeltema shared after committing following her high school season.

She admitted that the decision was tough, as she had built strong connections with several schools interested in her.

However, Dordt offered the right balance—a chance to stay close to home while still experiencing something new.

Though she had considered other schools like Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State, Dordt’s combination of familiarity and opportunity ultimately sealed the deal.

Jeltema isn’t the only athlete from the region making headlines with a college commitment. Aubrey Metzger of Central Lyon High School is set to join the women’s basketball program at Northwestern College.

Metzger played a key role in her team’s run to the Class 2A state championship game and was recognized as a first-team all-state selection.

With impressive stats, including averaging 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, she has proven herself to be a dominant force on the court.

Grace Erick of Sioux City East High School is taking her talents to South Dakota State University as a track and field athlete.

Erick, a multiple-time state qualifier, has been a key contributor to East’s sprinting teams, earning medals in relay events and consistently competing at the highest level.

Her ability to perform under pressure will serve her well as she transitions to collegiate competition.

Meanwhile, Sioux City East’s Zsuzsana Bourassa has committed to Bethany College in West Virginia to compete in women’s wrestling.

Bourassa’s senior season was a breakout year, as she qualified for the state tournament and finished with an impressive record.

Her dedication and perseverance have earned her a spot at the next level, where she’ll continue to grow as an athlete.

With these commitments finalized, these athletes can now focus on finishing their high school careers strong before embarking on their collegiate journeys. Their stories reflect the hard work and determination it takes to compete at the next level, and their communities will undoubtedly be cheering them on as they take this exciting next step.
