NFL Top player Officially Announces Return to Texas Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns football team is receiving a major boost for the upcoming season with the return of standout edge rusher Trey Moore.

Moore, who was previously a significant transfer addition for the team, announced via Instagram that he would be staying in Austin for his final year of eligibility, opting not to enter the NFL Draft or the transfer portal.

This news comes as a relief to the Longhorns, who are eager to build on his contributions from the previous season.

Moore joined Texas after an impressive tenure at UTSA, where he made a name for himself as one of the most formidable defenders in college football.

As a transfer, he was named to the preseason All-SEC third team and quickly made an impact in his first season with the Longhorns.

Over the course of the 2024 season, Moore started every game and finished with an impressive 10.5 tackles for loss, showcasing his consistency and dominance on defense.

His 6.5 sacks ranked third on the team, and he made key contributions in several critical games, including postseason matchups against Georgia, Clemson, and Arizona State.

Moore’s achievements extend beyond his time at Texas, with an exceptional two-year stint at UTSA. In 2023, he led the Roadrunners in both sacks (14) and tackles for loss (18), earning the title of American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Additionally, he was a three-time AAC Defensive Player of the Week during his time with the Roadrunners, further solidifying his reputation as a top-tier defender.

Moore’s high school career was also stellar, as he was named District 27-6A Defensive Player of the Year during his senior year at Smithson Valley High School in San Antonio.

Now, with his decision to return to Texas, Moore is set to play a pivotal role in one of the most dynamic pass-rushing units in college football.

His leadership and experience will be invaluable as the Longhorns look to strengthen their defense in 2025.

Moore’s return is not just a win for Texas; it is a testament to his commitment to the program and his desire to finish his college career on a high note.

Fans are excited to see what Moore can accomplish in his final season as he looks to leave a lasting legacy at Texas.

As the Longhorns prepare for the next season, Moore’s return adds depth and strength to a defensive line that has already shown significant promise.

His presence on the field will certainly raise the stakes for opposing teams, and with his proven track record, Trey Moore is expected to be a key figure in Texas’ defensive strategy for the year ahead.
