Cincinnati Hires Dr. Jason Stone as Director of Sport Performance for Football
The Cincinnati Bearcats football program has made a significant addition to its staff by hiring Dr. Jason Stone as the team’s first-ever Director of Sport Science.
Stone, who previously worked as the Applied Sports Science Manager for the Cincinnati Reds, brings extensive experience in performance optimization, data analysis, and athlete recovery.
Head coach Scott Satterfield expressed enthusiasm about the hire, emphasizing Stone’s expertise in utilizing technology and data to enhance player health and performance.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Jason Stone to our Cincinnati football program,” Satterfield stated.
“His ability to harness technology and interpret data in health and wellness will give us an advantage moving forward and keep our student-athlete experience on the cutting edge.”
In his new role, Stone will oversee all aspects of performance, training, and recovery for the team.
His responsibilities include developing individualized plans for players, analyzing data collected through systems like Catapult—
which tracks player movement in both practice and games—and ensuring a fully integrated approach to sport science across the program.
Stone himself expressed excitement about the opportunity, highlighting his goal of implementing a data-driven approach to help athletes reach their full potential.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Bearcats football program and collaborate with an exceptional staff,” he said.
Our goal is to integrate data-driven insights through a fully aligned, collaborative approach across all departments, ensuring every athlete has the tools and support needed to maximize their potential on and off the field.”
This hiring marks another step forward in Cincinnati’s commitment to player development as the program continues to compete at the highest level in the Big 12.
With depth and recovery playing a crucial role in maintaining peak performance throughout the season, Stone’s expertise will be a valuable asset as the Bearcats prepare for the upcoming season in their newly upgraded facilities.
