The Oregon Ducks are facing the possibility of losing wide receiver Kyler Kasper for the remainder of the season due to a foot injury.
Kasper has missed the last two games while dealing with a right foot issue and is currently seen in a walking boot and using a scooter.
There are growing concerns that the redshirt sophomore may not return to play this year.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning commented on the situation, saying, “I don’t know the timeline on Kyler.
It might be hard to see him back this year; but I won’t put limitations on him and his ability to get back.”
This season, Kasper has made one catch for 21 yards and had begun to earn more playing time, especially in the end zone during a previous game against UCLA.
Kasper’s absence compounds the Ducks’ receiving challenges, as they are already missing Gary Bryant Jr., who has not participated this season.
Additionally, Traeshon Holden is facing disciplinary action, and freshman Jack Ressler is also unavailable.
As a result, the second-ranked Ducks now have only seven scholarship receivers at their disposal.
Looking ahead, the No. 2 Oregon Ducks, currently boasting a 6-0 record and 3-0 in the Big Ten, are preparing to face Purdue, which has struggled this season with a record of 1-5 and 0-3 in the conference.
The game is scheduled for Friday, October 18, at 5 p.m. PT, at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana.
As the season progresses, the Ducks will need to navigate these injuries and make strategic adjustments to their roster.
The challenges ahead will test the depth and resilience of the team as they aim to maintain their successful run.
